MARGAO: Desserts N’More Avengers and Gomanchal Warriors entered the final of 2nd Goa Veteran Cricket League at MCC Ground here on Saturday.
Gomanchal Warriors defeated RMKS XI by 16 runs in the first semis while Desserts N’More Avengers edged out Mangirish Veterans by 2 wickets in the other semi-final.
Both the games produced low-scoring contests with fine margins deciding the outcome. While Mukhtar Kadri’s all-round performance (51 runs off 29 balls & 2/41) stood out for Gomanchal, Rajendra Dabholkar’s 4/18 and a cameo of 18 (8 balls) was not enough for RMKS XI.
Captain Mukhtar Kadri was named Man of the Match and received the award from Prajesh Parab.
The second semis witnessed a one-man show by Desserts N’More Avengers all-rounder Shishir Divkar, who first picked 3 wickets giving away just 9 runs as Mangirish Veterans were restricted to a modest 119/7. Shishir then turned up with the bat in his hand, wielding an unbeaten 69 runs (50 balls, 4×9) to guide the Avengers into the final, with 7 balls to spare. Balkrishna Hodarkar (3/18) was the pick of the bowlers for Mangirish Veterans.
Shishir Divkar was named Man of the Match and was presented with the award by Yogesh Naik.
