Continuing a disappointing run of losses, Goa went down to Gujarat by six wickets in the last match of Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Vadodara on Monday. It was also the fourth consecutive defeat for the Goan side, who had won their first three matches in the competition.
Gujarat put Goa into bat and restricted them to 95/7. The hosts then chased the target in 19.1 overs losing four wickets.
Other than Tarannum Pathan (39) and wicketkeeper Divya Naik (31), none of the Goa batters got into double digits. Their stand of 49 runs for the 7th wicket, was the best partnership in the Goa innings.
Gujarat’s chase was led by captain Bhavana Goplani with an unbeaten 39. SK Raut (21) and Renuka Chaudhari (19) also made important contribution. Tarannum was once again among the wickets for Goa, picking up 2/18. Poorva Bhaidkar and Priti Yadav took one wicket each.
