PANAJI: The remaining two matches of the third round in the Goa Premier Division League, organised by Goa Cricket Association, ended in draws. However, Salgaocar Cricket Club and Geno Sports Club dominated their respective encounters by securing first-innings leads.
In the league match played at the NAPEX ground between Salgaocar Cricket Club and Panjim Gymkhana, Salgaocar piled up a massive 530 runs in the first innings. Yash Kasvankar played a patient and solid knock of 191 runs, while Shaantanu Nevagi contributed 110 runs.
Salgaocar’s innings ended at 530. In reply, Panjim Gymkhana scored 365 runs. Suyash Prabhudessai scored 92, while Soham Panvankar added 57 runs. Ruthvik Naik took 4 wickets for Salgaocar. The match ended in a draw, but Salgaocar gained the advantage on first-innings lead.
Meanwhile, the match between Margao Cricket Club and Geno Sports Club at the GCA ground in Sanguem was also competitive. Margao scored 238 in the first innings, with Aryan Narvekar making 84 runs. In response, Geno SC scored 344 runs to take the lead. Manthan Khutkar (94) and Samar Dubhashi (77) provided a strong foundation.
In the second innings, MCC scored 257 runs. Devankumar Chittem made 90 runs. Geno reached 56 for 1 in the second innings, and the match ended in a draw. However, Geno Sports Club earned points due to their first-innings lead.
After the completion of the third round, Geno Sports Club leads the table with 12 points. Salgaocar Cricket Club is second with 9 points, while Chowgule Sports Club is third with 8 points. Margao Cricket Club (5 points), Panjim Gymkhana (4 points), and Dempo Cricket Club (2 points) are placed fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.
