Panaji: Goa Cricket Association has announced that it has signed a ‘momentous’ Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the iconic Margao Cricket Club (MCC), to bolster the growth of cricket.
Under the terms of the MoU, MCC has agreed to allocate a state-of-the-art cricket ground to the GCA for 10 years, stated a press note.
The ground, equipped with modern facilities and amenities, will serve as a hub for various cricketing activities including competitive matches, training sessions, and talent development programmes. The agreement solidifies a commitment to nurturing young talent in the sport and elevating the overall standard of cricket in Goa. Moreover, the organisations will also be collaborating to set up a 20-year academy project, added the press note.
Speaking about the partnership, GCA secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai, stated: “We are delighted to join hands with the Margao Cricket Club in this historic endeavour. This partnership marks a significant milestone in our mission to promote cricket in Goa. By providing the necessary infrastructure and coaching, we hope to unearth and nurture talented cricketers who can represent Goa at national and international levels, specially the young budding cricketers of South Goa.”
MCC President Yogesh Naik, said: “The signing of this MOU signifies a new era for cricket in Margao and Goa as a whole. We are honoured to have the support and guidance of the Goa Cricket Association, and we are confident that together we can create a vibrant cricketing culture that will inspire generations to come.”
