PORVORIM: Geno Sports Club clinched the Goa Premier Division League (One-Dayers) 2025–26 title with a dominant 136-run victory over Salgaocar Cricket Club. The day-night match was played at the GCA Academy ground in Porvorim tonight.
Geno delivered an all-round performance excelling in batting, bowling, and fielding to completely outclass their opponents.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Geno Sports Club adopted an aggressive approach from the outset. Veer Yadav anchored the innings with a composed yet effective knock of 103 runs off 124 balls, including 12 fours and 1 six. He was well supported by captain Manthan Khutkar, who scored a brisk 58 off 47 balls, accelerating the scoring rate. Their partnership laid a solid foundation for the middle order.
In the middle overs, Kaushal Hattangadi (41 off 28 balls) and Manish Kakode (36 off 28 balls) played explosive innings to boost the run-rate towards the end.
Vikas Singh also contributed 33 runs, helping the team cross the 300-run mark. With 28 extras, Geno posted a strong total of 331 all out in 49.5 overs. For Salgaocar, Ruthvik Naik took 3 wickets, while Yash Kasvankar, Amulya Pandrekar, Gauresh Nagvekar, and Tunish Sawkar claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Salgaocar Cricket Club had a poor start, losing two wickets for just 8 runs, which put them under early pressure. Captain Yash Kasvankar tried to steady the innings with a fighting knock of 71 off 80 balls. Yogesh Kauthankar supported him with 55 runs off 73 balls, and the duo put together a 92-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
However, Geno’s bowlers struck at crucial moments to take control of the match. Leg-spinner Shiven Borkar was outstanding, picking up 5 wickets for just 11 runs in 3.1 overs, breaking the backbone of Salgaocar’s batting. As a result, Salgaocar were bowled out for 195 in 35.1 overs.
Samarth Rane took 2 wickets, while Pundalik Naik and Nihal Surlakar chipped in with one wicket each. Geno also impressed in the field, taking key catches and restricting runs effectively.
