GCA’s Goa Premier League: 13 wickets fall on opening day at Panjim Gymkhana

Panaji: The opening day of the GCA’s Goa Premier League match between Manas Panjim Gymkhana and Desserts N’More Geno SC, belonged to the bowlers as 13 wickets fell at Panjim Gymkhana ground on Tuesday.

Batting first Manas PG were bowled out for 190 while Desserts N’More Geno found themselves in early trouble as they lost top 3 batters without opening their account, before recovering to make 49/3 at Stumps.

Yogesh Kauthankar (69 not not) and Kashyap Bakhle (43) did the bulk of the scoring for Manas PG. The fourth wicket partnership between Kashyap and Subhranshu Senapati (20) was worth 51 runs and provided a semblance of stability to the hosts’ innings. However, other than Yogesh, the batters to follow failed to provide the thrust as they were dismissed cheaply. Yogesh played watchfully but struck 9 boundaries whenever the opportunities presented. He was involved in a 49 runs partnership with Rajshekhar Harikant (22) for the 7th wicket and 68-run stand for the 8th wicket with Shreyas Gurav (21).

Parth Bhut was the wrecker in chief as he took five wickets giving away 42 runs, off his 25 overs. Geno captain Deepraj Gaonkar and Shubham Dessai picked up 2 wickets each.

Elsewhere, Dempo CC were shot out for 104 runs while Priority Constructions MCC replied with 180 as a staggering 20 wickets went down at Chicalim ground, Vasco. Over at GCA ground, Porvorim, Chowgule SC posted a first innings total of 322 to which Salgaocar Cricket Club replied with 6/0 at the end of day’s play.
