CC Boys-Panaji beat McLaren Sports Club-Kumbharjua by 53 runs to win the all-Goa panchayat and municipality level cricket tournament organised by Zingaro Sports and Cultural Club, Betim, Bardez.
In the final at Betim ground, CC Boys batted first and made a formidable total of 147/4 in their allotted 8 overs. Man of the final Amit Faterpekar did the bulk of the scoring with 62 runs coming of his bat. Rajesh Gosavi contributed 28 runs while Sahil Vaigankar scored 21 runs. McLaren’s Sagar Gaude, who was named best bowler, Hruthvik Sawant and Tushar Narvekar took one wicket each.
McLaren were restricted to 94/7 in 8 overs in their reply with CC Boys bowler Arjun Nepali picking up four wickets giving away 16 runs. Vivek Karapurkar and Dinesh Naik picked up a wicket each. McLaren’s Hitesh More, who was awarded best batsman prize, scored 20 runs, Tushar Narvekar 17 runs and Prathamesh Tari made 14 runs.
The winners were awarded Rs 1 lakh while the runners-up received Rs 50,000 along with trophies. Losing Semi-finalists Siddesh XI and Ekansh were presented Rs 10,000 and a trophy each. Amit Faterpekar was also awarded the man of the tournament prize and bagged the highest scorer of the tournament prize.
Tourism & IT Minister Rohan Khaunte was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Saligao MLA Kedar Naik and other dignitaries.
