Panaji: Veling Cricketers and Mayem Union SC moved into the next stage of the Betim United Trophy 2023 here on Tuesday.
Veling Cricketers scored an easy 8-wicket victory over Teejan Challengers, who were bowled out for 97 runs in 19.4 overs. Sarvesh Gurav made a notable contribution of 27 runs for Teejan.
In reply, Veling Cricketers reached the victory target 98/2 in 8.4 overs. Sapnish Satarkar top-scored with 43 not out while Balkrisha Kerkar contributed 33 runs.
Sanket Morajkar of Veling Cricketers was named man of the match for his figures of 3/10 off four overs. Saiesh Naik and Pritesh Naik took three and two wickets respectively.
In the other match, Mayem Union SC got the better of Navelim Blasters by 20 runs.
Batting first, Mayem Union SC scored 158/8 while Navelim Blasters could manage 138/9 in their chase. Omkar of Mayem Union SC batted well for his 65 runs off 36 balls, which consisted 7 boundaries and 3 sixes. He was named man of the match.
