Goa finished fourth in Group C after losing their last match to Saurashtra by four wickets at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament in Ranchi today. The Darshan Misal-led side tasted four victories and three defeats from seven matches.
Put into bat, Goa posted a decent total of 161/5 with Arjun Tendulkar being the top-scorer with 47 runs off 36 balls (2×4,3×6); Suyash Prabhudesai made an unbeaten 45 runs off 32 balls (4×4, 1×6). The duo added 95 runs for the fifth wicket. Earlier, opener Ishaan Gadekar contributed 40 runs off 29 balls (5×4, 2×6) and was involved in a 57-run stand for the opening wicket. The experienced Rahul Tripathi continued his disappointing run as he was out cheaply for 12 runs.

Saurashtra had to work hard as the chase went down to the wire. Harvik Desai (61) and S Vyas (44) seemed to have set them up nicely with a second-wicket partnership of 81 runs. However, the experienced Sheldon Jackson (26 not out off 25 balls) held one end together while Chirag Jani (15 not out off 5 balls) found the big shots when needed to take their team home to 167/6 off the last ball of the 20th over. Goa’s Shubham Tari (3/23), Darshan Misal (2/28), Arjun (1/34) were amongst the wickets.
