Panaji: Dhadsakal Stars and Sangolda Warrior opened their campaign at Betim United Trophy 2023 with victory over Mclaren SC and Socorro United respectively at SAG ground, Campal, here on Thursday.
Sangolda Warrior beat Socorro United by 21 runs as Sangolda Warrior defended a fighting total of 148/9 pretty well with man-of-the match Imam Kasim bowling well for figures of 3/26 off his four overs. Earlier, Anand Mottu was in good nick as he top-scored with 33 runs off 24 balls, which included two boundaries and two sixers each. Vasudev Vast contributed 27 runs off 20 balls (4×4, 1×6). Gopal Naik of Socorro picked up 3/31.
In reply, Tejesh Sawant batted aggressively for Socorro United with 38 runs to his name off 26 balls (3×4, 3×6). But Socorro United were restricted to 127/8 in the allotted 20 overs.
In the other match, Dhadsakal Stars scored a seven-wicket victory over Mclaren SC. Tushar N powered his way to a 39-ball 56 (8×4) as Mclaren SC put up 158/7 in the allotted 20 overs. All-rounder Sanket Jotkar first picked up 4/43 before being the highest run-getter for Dhadsakal with a 26-ball 49 (8×4, 1×6) in a man-of-the match performance. Shreyash Bhagat remained not out on 38 runs off 27 balls (3×4, 2×6) as Dhadsakal Stars romped to 160/3 in 19 overs.
