Inter-College Cricket: Govt College Khandola & Shree Damodar College enter semi-finals

Government College, Khandola, & Shree Damodar College, Margao, entered the semi-finals of Inter-Collegiate Cricket Championship 2022-23 organised by Goa University.

In the remaining two quarter-finals played on Monday, Govt. College, Khandola defeated Govt. College, Sanquelim by 65 runs; and Shree Damodar College, Margao thrashed V. M. Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar by 112 runs.

Put into bat, Govt. College Khandola posted a challenging total of 177/9 in 20 overs. Prathamesh Sawant with a quickfire 32(19) and Shardhul Shet scoring 30 off 28, powered the Khandola side to a big total. Sanquelim’s Sanket Zore (3/29) and Ganesh Kerker (2/31) were amongst wickets.

Govt. College Sanquelim caved under the pressure of the rising asking rate and were all out for 112 in 17 overs, with Prasad Harle (4/19) and Saurabh Sharma (3/19) being the main wicket-takers. Sahil Majik top-scored for Sanquelim with 43 runs off 30 balls. Sanjil Pokle contributed 16 runs.

In the last quarter-final, Shree Damodar College, Margao, posted 154/5 in 20 overs and skittled out VM Salgaocar Law college for 42 runs in 10.4 Overs.

Ayush Verlekar scored a strokeful 56 off 39 balls while Sanath Nevagi contributed 25 off 17 balls for the Margao side. Salgaocar’s Vaibhav Bandekar (2-26) and Abhishek Dawaskar (2-30) were amongst the wickets.

V.M. Salgaocar Law just couldn’t make a match of it as Deep Kasvankar (3-4) and Saish Satardekar (2-05) caused major damage with the ball. Only, Pranay Malik (16) entered double figures for V.M. Salgaocar Law college.

Both the semi-finals will be played on Tuesday (04/04/2023) as follows:

•S. S. Dempo, Cujira vs S. Caculo College, Mapusa at 9:00 a.m.
•Govt. College, Khandola vs Shree Damodar College, Margao at 2:00 p.m.
