Panaji: DMC PVS Higher Secondary School got the better of RMS Higher Secondary School by one wicket in a thrilling finish to the final of DSYA’s state-level under-19 boys cricket tournament at SAG ground, Campal here on Friday.
DMC won the toss and elected to field first. As such, RMS posted a very challenging total of 165/8 in the allotted 20 overs. The captain of the Margao-based HSS, Rijul Pathak made the top score of 42 runs off 22 balls. Granthik Buyao scored 28 runs.
DMC’s all-rounder Rayyan Shah picked up three wickets while Manish Nirawdekar claimed two wickets.
Rayyan Shah came good with the bat as well as he was the highest run-getter for DMC team with 40 runs off 23 balls, while Sarthak Bhike contributed 39 runs off 29 balls. The match headed for a tense finish as DMC PVS Higher Secondary School reached the target 166/9 with just one wicket in hand and four balls to spare.
The fighting bowling effort was spearheaded by Rijul Pathak and Jeevan Chittem, who took three wickets each for RMS HSS.
