St Joseph Institute enter GCA under-16 boys South zone final

Margao: St Joseph Institute Vasco beat Sarvodaya High School by four wickets and entered the South zone final of the GCA under-16 boys tournament.

In the South zone semi-final played at MCC ground, Sarvodaya won the toss and elected to bat first. Gaurav Naik scored valuable 95 runs off 89 balls and fought a lone battle as no other batter entered double figures, in the team’s total of 189 all out in 32.3 overs.

St Joseph Institute’s allrounder Dwij Palyekar took three wickets while Sarvambh Naik and Sarthak Toraskar picked up 2 wickets each. Sarthak Shetgaonkar got one wicket.

Dwij Palyekar gave a fine display with the bat as well, as he remained unbeaten on 78 runs to take his team to victory. Sujay Parmekar contributed 52 runs in the successful chase as St Joseph Institute reached 190/6 in 36 overs. Sarvodaya’s Manhit Kanguri took two wickets while Kaushal Chari picked up one wicket.
