Margao Cricket Club (MCC) and Chowgule Sports Club made a winning start in the Goa Premier Division T-20 League 2025–26, organised by the Goa Cricket Association, on Monday. Both matches were played at the GCA Ground in Sanguem-Kotarli.
In the first match held in the afternoon session, Salgaocar Cricket Club batted first and posted 138 all out in 19.5 overs. Azaan Thota (20) and Piyush Yadav (16) provided a steady start, while Tunish Sawkar played an aggressive knock of 35 to stabilise the innings. Yogesh Kauthankar contributed 23 runs, but the regular fall of wickets prevented the team from putting up a big total. For MCC, Anuj Yadav delivered an excellent spell, taking 4 wickets for just 14 runs, while Deepraj Gaonkar also picked up 4 wickets to restrict the opposition.
Chasing the target, Margao had a shaky start, but Aryan Narvekar turned the game around with a blistering 60 off 39 balls. He was well-supported by Deepraj Gaonkar, who scored 27 runs. Margao Cricket Club eventually reached 142 for 6 in 19 overs to win the match by 4 wickets.
In the second match played under lights, Panjim Gymkhana posted 153 for 7 in 20 overs. After early setbacks, captain Suyash Prabhudesai (52) and Mohit Redkar (52 not out) steadied the innings with fine half-centuries. For Chowgule Sports Club, Shubham Desai took 2 wickets for 17 runs, while Kaustubh Pingulkar also claimed 2 wickets.
Chasing 154, Chowgule adopted an aggressive approach. Captain Darshan Misal led from the front with a superb 57, while Madhur added a valuable 41. Towards the end, Shubham Desai (31 not out) and Shivendra Bhujbal finished the game in style, guiding the team to 158 for 5 in 18.4 overs and a comfortable 5-wicket victory.
