Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim emerged victorious against Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, by 81 runs in the final of Goa University Inter-Collegiate Cricket (Women) Championship at Goa University ground.
Govt. College won the toss and elected to Bowl first. Vidya Prabodhini accumulated a total of 191 runs while losing 4 wickets over the course of 20 overs. The top performers with the bat were Ruchi Kumbhar, who scored 81 runs off 61 balls, and Athashree Shivarkar, who contributed 44 runs from 23 balls.
On the bowling side, GC Khandola’s Sanjana Palkar & Sanisha Gaude took 1 wicket each. In the run-chase, Govt College Khandola managed to score 110/9 in 20 overs. Deevita Palkar scored 26 runs of 28 balls and Sanika scored 12 runs in 6 balls.
Vidya Prabodhini’s Athashree Shivarkar dominated by taking 3 wickets for 23 runs. Ruchi Kumbhar contributed by taking 2 wickets giving away 7 runs.
Best Player of the championship was also awarded to Ruchi Kumbhar from Vidya Prabodhini for being the most valuable player of the tournament for scoring 167 runs in 3 innings at average of 55 and strike rate of 138.02 in which 81 being highest score in the final and also taking 5 wickets, 2 maidens at economy of 3.22. She was also the Best Overall performer of the match. Athashree Shivarkar was the Best Bowler of the match.
Dr. J.P. Tiwari, Dean, Goa Medical College, graced the valedictory function. Dr. Ujwala Hanjunkar, Incharge Vice-Principal, Vidya Prabodhini College and Dr. Poonam Tiwari, Goa Medical College; Balachandra B. Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, were also present.
