Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Goa eye victory after Chandigarh follow on

Porvorim: Goa put themselves into the driver’s seat against Chandigarh on the third day with the hosts needing 7 wickets and the visitors still trailing by 270 runs to make Goa bat again, in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match at GCA Academy ground here on Friday.

Having been bowled out for 137 runs in the first innings, Chandigarh were reduced to 159/3 at stumps as they were asked to follow on. In all, 12 wickets went down on the day as Goan spinners exploited the conditions with their guile and discipline.

Left-arm spinner Darshan Misal (3/27) and off-spinner Lalit Yadav (3/17) were the chief wicket-takers in the first innings as Chandigarh batters including captain Manan Vohra (23) failed to negotiate the quick turn and bounce offered by the sporting track. Jagjit Singh Sandhu was the highest scorer for the visitors with 31 runs.

Chandigarh debutant opener Arjun Azad is leading the resistance in their second essay as he is unbeaten on 76, which included 9 boundaries and a sixer. Giving him company at the crease is AK Kaushik on 38. Arjun Tendulkar, Darshan and Lalit took one wicket each to put Goa in a winning position.
