Abhinav Tejrana scores century as Goa make confident start to Ranji Trophy 2025-26 campaign

PORVORIM: A fine century by Abhinav Tejrana was the highlight of the opening day’s play as Goa made a solid start to their Ranji Trophy (Elite) 2025-26 season against Chandigarh at GCA Academy ground here on Wednesday.

Abhinav, batting at No 3, is unbeaten on 130 and his unfinished partnership of 176 with Lalit Yadav (80 not out) has taken Goa to a respectable 291/3 at stumps on Day 1.

Earlier, Goa won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers Suyash Prabhudessai (47) and Manthan Khutkar (21) put on 45 runs before the last-named became the first wicket to fall. Goa lost Suyash and Kashyap Bakhle (0) at the team total of 115, which brought Lalit to the crease.

Abhinav (4×12, 6×2) and Lalit (4×8, 6×2) put on a strong display, playing confidently to accumulate runs and keep up the Chandigarh bowlers at bay with good shot selection.
