Porvorim: Goa are on their way to victory against Arunachal Pradesh after bowling out the visitors cheaply and taking a huge 330 runs lead at the end of first day’s play of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at Goa Cricket Association Academy ground here today.
Kashyap Bakhle was not out on 179 while Snehal Kauthankar was unbeaten on 146 as the hosts hammered their way to 414/2 in 54 overs when stumps were drawn; after having skittled out Arunachal for 84 runs in 30.3 overs earlier in the day.
Arunachal, who elected to bat first, were rocked by Arjun Tendulkar’s opening spell where the left-arm pacer ran through their top order, for the figures of 9-3-25-5. Mohit Redkar and Keith Pinto took three and two wickets respectively.
The Goa innings saw early dismissal of Ishan Gadekar but Suyash Prabhudesai (73) and No 3. Kashyap put on 109 runs for the second wicket to set the foundation that was consolidated with the arrival of Snehal at the crease. The third-wicket partnership is now worth 293 runs and both batters – Kashyap and Snehal have looked untroubled, helping themselves to some fine shots to reach the three-figure scores.
