19th Sub-Junior U-17 Tennis Ball Cricket: MIBK HS Khandepar & Sacred Heart HS Parra emerge champions

Mardol: MIBK HS Khandepar & Sacred Heart HS Parra emerged champions in boys and girls category at the 19th Sub-Junior U-17 Tennis Ball Cricket tournament.

The championship was organised by United Sports Club, Mardol & Goa Tennis Ball Cricket Association at Mardol ground from 7th to 11th February 2024.

In the boys final, MIBK defeated Govt High School Amona. Sacred Heart High School defeated Gurukul High School, Canacona, in girls section.

Batting first, Gurukul scored 56 runs in 6 overs. Tanisha Velip scored 28 runs & Khushi Velip scored 12 runs. In reply, Sacred Heart scored required runs in 5.4 overs, as Pooja Rathod scored 28 runs, Supriya scored 13 runs. Sacred Heart won by 7 wickets.

In the boys final, MIBK High School beat Govt High School, Amona, by 8 wickets. Batting first, Govt HS scored 39 runs in alloted 6 overs. In reply, MIBK scored the required runs in 3.1 overs, Pravit Naik scored 35 runs.

Following individual prizes were awarded:

Best Batter- Pooja Rathod

Best Bowler – Tanisha Velip

Best batsman – Pravit Naik

Best Bowler – Kaushal Morajkar

Former Ranji Trophy cricketer Aditya Angle, was the chief guest. Sanjay Bhandari, Corporate Head, Nestle India Ltd; and Vaibhavi Mardolkar, Panch, were the guests of honour. They gave away the prizes along with other dignitaries.

A total of 44 school teams in boys section and 21 girls school teams participated in the championship.
